Peace through Perspective

Home

Hello and welcome to my website.  My name is Deborah Lahoud and I am an author, a speaker and a spiritual life coach.  Do not let that word “spiritual” frighten you. It has nothing to do with religion and everything to do with inner peace.  What do I do?  Well, I have a unique way of helping you to untangle the chaos that is in your mind so that you can achieve peace through perspective.

I have a different way of seeing things than most people and most people find it helpful to hear other points of view.  I believe that the way we think about things causes most (if not all) of the emotional and mental pain we experience. If that is true, then it would stand to reason that if we could change the way we think about things, that pain, worry and stress could be alleviated. For me, I follow one very simple phrase: Perspective is Everything

Most people automatically associate the word miracle with something otherworldly and inspired by God. And yes, TV and the internet and Facebook are full of stories where indeed it seems as though God or angels or other spirits have interceded and caused miracles. But the type of miracle I’m talking about is the miracle of the change of perspective. Wayne Dyer has said that “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” This is so true. So why is it a miracle? Because most of us DON’T do it and if we do, it is so rare, it qualifies as a miracle!

Oftentimes, perspective is gained when you hear or read a story that causes you to temporarily put yourself in someone else’s shoes. You get that momentary glimpse into just how good your life is because that awful story didn’t happen to you and then for that moment, you experience the peace that perspective brings. These reminders are good but they are so short-lived. Just why is that we often have to have something terrible happen to someone else in order to appreciate our own lives? Or perhaps you are the person who repeatedly posts “life is good” on FB. I will bet that’s really easy to write when you are sunning on a beach or driving in the car with the top down or when you are having an “ahhhh” moment. Yep, life sure is good at those times. The question is how can you gain the perspective to see how life is good ALL the time, NO MATTER WHAT.

There is more stress, more worry and more obsessing over everything these days. There do not seem to be enough hours in the day and things can seemingly go wrong at the drop of a hat. How do you react when you have to wait in long lines or there is traffic? What happens to your day if an appointment gets canceled or something “bad” happens to you or someone you know? Does you mind go wild with thoughts in all directions? Does your stomach do flip flops? Does your blood pressure goes up? Perhaps you find yourself unable to think of anything but the problem, consumed by what-ifs and crazy suppositions. Probably. That is what we would consider the usual reaction. It happens to me too. But what I have learned is how to mitigate my thoughts after the initial shock of the incident wears off (and sometimes, immediately).

You can learn how to do it too. It begins by being willing to accept that peace IS possible. Are you willing to do that? If you are, let’s begin and follow me, if you will, on a journey of discovery and enlightenment. I look forward to sharing my stories and insights with you all and I hope you will share yours with me! Perhaps together we can all discover . . . Peace through Perspective!

Love & Light,
Deborah
